Internet Channel Trial Released!
Dec 28, 2006 - 11:18 PM
Yes, the first download available in Wii Ware (from the Shop Channel) is available! The long awaited Opera-based Internet Channel is available for free download, providing many, but not all features planned for the final release. I have personally tried the browser out, and I must say that I am impressed so far! Everything runs smoothly, although the Flash Player is obviously far from finished. Many games and tools tend to have missing graphics and text. But anyways, onto the juicy stuff.

This browser has many other features other than Adobe Flash, including support for AJAX applications. This will allow tools such as Google Maps to be used. Other options, such as zoom and panning are available for easy viewing. The final version of the browser is scheduled to be released in March 2007. The browser will be free until June 2007, which it will then cost a mere... [Read More]

News Channel Release Date Confirmed!
Dec 28, 2006 - 10:58 PM
Nintendo has recently unveiled the release date for the News Channel. On January 27th, 2007, the System Update will be available for download, activating the Channel. In case you aren't familiar with the News Channel, it's basically a collection of news headlines and current events, which can include attached media, such as pictures. Content for this will be provided by the Associated Press, teaming up with Nintendo on this.

News topics will be automatically updated via WiiConnect24 (That is, if you've enabled it), so you will need to have a broadband internet connection to use this Channel. If any updates on the release come up, be sure to stick to NWii3D for the latest! Once again, the update will be released on January 27th for American and European models, so keep your eyes peeled!

Wii Preorders Coming Soon?
Aug 15, 2006 - 4:40 PM
Nintendo fanboys all over the net are anxiously waiting to reserve their Wii's so that they can be one of the first to get their hands on the hardware gem. UK storefronts (as pictured below) are already displaying Wii preorder signs, and supposedly, EBGames and GameStop stores inside the US will begin their Wii preorders sometime next week.

With a still unconfirmed final price or release date, retailers and individuals alike are still left in the blue. But with anticipated preordering services popping up, likely Nintendo will release additional information soon?
